The Klamath County Historical Society was created and incorporated on May 28, 1946 by people who loved the Klamath Basin and its history.

Its goal was to create a museum to preserve the stories, pictures, and artifacts about the basin's history. The Society continues today to bring the history of the Klamath Basin, Southern Oregon, and Northern California to a new generation and audience.
